Proposal of Media Leader Inc.

MEDIA LEADER INC.

•COMPANY PROFILE
Vision : Being media company which always motivate and give the best as our priority
Missions : To educate viewers and also entertain them.
To give the best quality in every program.
To inform factual event in right time, right place and right way.
Media leader inc. established on October 20, 1998 based on spirit of freedom and educates the nation. Media leader inc. is a television company which is not only focused in entertainment but also education. On March 2007, Media leader inc. launch new TV channel called Babes TV as the first kids and infant national channel in Indonesia, which provides all the programs to entertain and educate children. The channel covers all of the regions in Indonesia. Their target audiences are 1-5 years old kids and infant whom live in the big city from middle-high class. Babes TV use English and Mandarin almost in every program.

•OBJECTIVE
To be famous among children and increase 20% of target audience share in every programs within a year.

•ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
Social and cultural
By introducing English and mandarin since childhood, infant and kids will be able to communicate using the two international languages beside their nation language.
Technological and product innovation
We can teach our children easily and practically through the TV. We can educate our kids only by TV moreover kids will be more interesting to learn something through audiovisual communication.
Economic and market conditions
Our target audience is infant and kids 1 – 5 years old who love in big city with the middle to high class above.

•SWOT ANALYSIS
Strength:
•The first TV channel in Indonesia which care about children psychology
•Educate children, not only usual entertainment
•Use English or Mandarin in every program
•Have young, creative, and active employees.

Weakness:
•Few or small number of people know about Babies TV because it is new channel
•Less promotion
•Many new programs that are not known by kids, they don’t interest to watch the program
•The host of the program usually not attractive and interactive

Opportunity:
•Babies TV is a local channel which is not require using parabola or TV cable
•Less special programs for infant and kids in Indonesia, especially education programs for them

Threat:
•Many children like to watch TV series (SINETRON)
•Many competitors from international channels, such as Nickelodeon, Disney channel, cartoon network, etc.

•GENERAL PROBLEMS IN BABES TV
The current problems faced by Babes TV which include all departments :
1.Low rating
Uninteresting programs and quality of the program from audience’s point of view influence the rating of Babes TV programs.
2.New TV channel
As a new TV channel which provides entertainment and education for children, we are leading the innovation and gain our own target audiences or viewers which are influenced by quality, quantity, and coverage of our program.
3.Less of media relation
Babes TV require building a good relationship with the other media, especially international channels in order to able to broadcast the international programs.
4.Less promotion
As a new TV channel, there is small number of people knows about Babes TV. So, we must promote Babes TV to the viewers to be existed.
5.Less budget
As a new TV channel, Babes TV does not have a lot of money to promote and to create a high quality programs.
6.Coverage area
We have to widen the coverage area of Babes TV. By covering all of the areas in Indonesia, we will reach our target audiences in many big cities in Indonesia.

PROBLEMS OF PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT
Current problems that related to the Production Department responsibilities:
 The various and interesting program will attract children’s attention to watch Babes TV. It will satisfy children and their parents by supplying entertainment and education for their children. As production department, we must expand the attractive programs for our target audiences.
 The quality of the program also affected the rating of all programs.
 The media relations also affected the development of our programs which require broadcasting programs from other media, such as cartoons.

PLANNING
•STRATEGY
Change the low rating programs with the attractive one so that many viewers will interest to watch Babes TV. We must create new interesting programs to be exchange with the low rating programs by performing celebrities or cute and funny icons that are loved by kids and infant to presenter, host, or guest stars of the program to attract their attention.

The new programs are:
SIMSALABIM
The program covers the magical things that easy to practice by children. Deddy Corbuzier as the presenter will attract viewers to entertain and educate them by magic. It will be broadcasted every Saturday morning with different attraction. This new program will need kid celebrity as co-presenter and many children to do the magical attraction.

This program show the place that appropriate with children who is our audience, and advise parents to visit which place that they can share with they child. Host of this program is traveling to the place and to show what activity will can do on that place. We choose the actress, who had a son or daughter to be the host. It will be broadcast every Saturday morning. This program need:

LET’S SING AND DANCE!!
This program is singing and dance show, and persuades audience to doing to in they home. The program has the contest too. We doing the continuity contest, which invite dance team from kinder school and from dance studio. It will be broadcast once a week on Thursday afternoon. We need:

GAMES
 Renovate the system of employment in the company so that the employees can work productively by having a good relationship between fellow staff, superiors and subordinates
 Redecorate the studios and office rooms to be more colorful and tidy in order to create a good work environment so that the employees can do their job effectively and efficiently.
 We propose HRD to hire 2 more creative staff to create attractive programs for children’s education requirement. The new staff must be graduated from qualified universities, have minimum 1 year experience, have strong personality, out of box creativity, and good interpersonal skill
 The media relation will support our related program to be able to broadcast international cartoons and update the latest trend information frequently from all over the world.

Playhouse Disney and Disney Channel
The international channels that broadcast all the entertainment program for kids. We co-operate with them by signing contract which will be handled by Media Relation Department. By signing the contract, we can broadcast their cartoons programs, such as Mickey Mouse, Barney, etc.


ORGANIZING

Production Department Structure
Their job descriptions :

1. Program Director
o Manage and direct the implementation of production department’s objectives, strategic plans, and policies
o Monitor and direct daily operations of the programs, then ensure that everything is going right based on the strategies
o Monitor every program’s budget
o Manage the job of all the subordinates
o Arrange, communicate, and represent the meetings with the other departments or even clients

2. Producer
o Responsible for every production of the program
o Make concepts of the programs
o Direct and monitor each project from the beginning until finishing (from concept to be complete as an attractive program)
o Set the original ideas of the projects (technical and non technical)
o Planning and scheduling the productions
o Ensuring the budget is suitable with the production
o Negotiate every contracts

3. Script Writer
o Responsible for every production of the program
o Make script based on the concept which the producer made
o Make the script to be attractive and effective for the children as our viewers

4. Production assistant
o Responsible to the producer
o Leading the taping program
o Manage the people so the picture that was taken is great

5. EDITOR
o Editing the program that was taping to be suitable on screen
o Create the angle of the program based on the concept which made by producer
o Makes the program simple and meaningful so not make boring, easy to understanding by the audience

LEADING
• Give motivation to the employees in order to encourage them to gain our objective, by provide them with :
1. Facilities
The company should support all the employees with many advantage facilities so that their productivity can be used effectively and efficiently. Facilities that will be given to them are overtime payment, medical insurance, free medical check-up, transportation fee, meal fee, etc.
2. Good salary rates
The company should appreciate the employee’s work by giving them good rates of their salary so that they will be loyal to this company.
3. Bonus
Each employee will be given a bonus in the holiday time, for example Christmas Day or Idul Fitri. We also give bonus for those who can achieve the objectives and if they help the company to increase the program’s rating. The bonus is about 10% from their salary.
4. Intimacy and solidarity
The company must create a good relationship in the working environment. All the employees have to communicate with their fellows comfortably without intimidation. Thus, the employees can work productively by having a good relationship between fellow staff, superiors and subordinates.
• The company should conduct seminars, outbound, or gatherings which followed by the employees and their family. This activity can strengthen the relationship between each employee, between superiors and subordinates.
• The employees must be supported with the best equipment. As technology and product innovation change fast, we should up date the equipment or even buy the new one in order to maximize the performance of the production department staff. The equipment should be provided are high-resolution camera, high quality boomer, mixer, etc.
• Give opportunity to the employees to be trained. The training program is held to expand the performance of our staff. The training also helps us to gain our objective. We co-operates with :
1. John Robert Powers
The existing presenters will join the short course of public speaking to improve their skills in presenting. They will attend the class two times a week in their break time for 3 months.
2. EEC and HAN Mandarin
The existing presenters also join the intensive English or Mandarin course with the native speakers to be able to speak English or Mandarin fluently. They will attend the class three times a week as long as they work in this company.
3. Next Academy
The existing cameramen, editors, and operators will join the broadcasting course every Saturday for 3 months.
4. Computer First
The existing graphic designers will join the graphic design short course program to be able to use the Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop CS3. They will attend the class two times a week during their break time for 3 months.


CONTROLLING

The company should always monitor their employees by ensuring that every employee operates their responsibilities according to the company’s rules and regulations.
• Program directors conduct meetings with staff that divided by divisions.
• Managers have to monitor the work of their subordinates or staff directly in every division.
• All the subordinates must submit the report to their superiors frequently. The report is all about the development of their task or duty which has been completed. It is done to evaluate their job.
• The company should arrange the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) and regulation list. Both SOP and regulation list have to post to each department and attached on the wall in every room in the office.
• The company provides finger print detector for attendance monitoring. We have used check lock machine, but it is not effective anymore because other staff can make up for the others which absent at the moment.
